If Jeff Spicoli had a rich mom, she would be wearing A.L.C.’s spring 2027 collection. Designer Andrea Lieberman’s brand has always married New York’s rough-and-tumble attitude with California’s cool nonchalance. But A.L.C.’s latest offering reads as Lieberman’s sartorial love letter to the West Coast.

“I’ve always believed in very sporty shapes in really elevated fabrics,” Lieberman said in her Flatiron showroom. While this applied to pieces like the sleek white floor-length dress with a neckline reminiscent of a tennis dress, a cotton-nylon anorak, and a silk satin boatneck T-shirt, Lieberman is always at her best when she goes full throttle. The highlight was a pair of board shorts that were instantly promoted from beach bum staple to elegant summer mainstay thanks to their luxe silk fabrication. In keeping with the elevated beachwear, a black shirt with yellow and white stripes that almost felt like terrycloth was actually made of an Italian boucle yarn.

There was a certain element of impish joy that shone through in this collection. The color palette helped. Lieberman was drawn to a tooth pastey mint green this season, which took the shape of a V-neck sweater paired with a rich burgundy leather skirt. Always a stylist, Lieberman added one last jolt of electricity with a sneaky peek of a lace-trimmed tank top beneath the sweater. Still, nothing ever seemed overwrought. As Lieberman put it, “Everything should feel as easy as a T-shirt.”
