New York Fashion Week’s opening bell was still ringing on Wednesday evening when eBay and the CFDA turned back the clock with Endless Runway: The Archive—a one-night-only retrospective celebrating the designers, garments, and moments that have shaped American style.

Curated by Carlos Nazario, the exhibit brought together more than 150 rare and covetable pieces. Standout selects included a vintage Bob Mackie gown worn by Miley Cyrus on The Voice in 2017, a Marc Jacobs Fall 2001 dress infamously seen on Winona Ryder during her shoplifting trial, a Tom Ford for Gucci Spring 1996 mini, and a reimagined Michael Kors Collection slip dress.

At the center of the evening was a fun-filled eBay Live auction hosted by Jenna Lyons, brimming with items from Anna Sui, Donna Karan, Halston, Isaac Mizrahi, Ralph Lauren, Todd Oldham, and Virgil Abloh, plucked from the website. There was also contributions from the archives of Calvin Klein Collection, DVF, Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler, Tommy Hilfiger, Vera Wang, and Willy Chavarria, ensuring that no shortage of fashion history relics were flashing by. Target by Design

On Wednesday evening, Target gave a sneak preview of its two-day New Museum retail experience. Upon entering, guests were transported back in time as Madonna’s Like a Prayer played overhead while a conveyor belt showcased collaborations of yore and a film strip chronicled the evolution of the retailer’s shopping cart. And, of course, no throwback experience would be complete without a live Bull Terrier sporting a red bullseye, happily posing for photos. The second room of the exhibition had been designed for discovery: seven doors were placed in the middle representing Target’s different categories—think: fruit, a cabinet full of neon supplements, and a wall covered in Bullseye plushies where actress Lana Candor was spotted taking selfies.
