Exactly a quarter of the NFL is 2-0 right now, perfectly hitting that bell curve. It’s been a wild start to the season with teams wildly swinging up and down from our preseason expectations, but when it comes to the top of the heap there aren’t that many surprises.
Now that we have two weeks in the books it’s worth looking at the undefeated teams in the NFL and rating them again based on their Super Bowl chances this season.
There’s nothing to find wrong with the Bills this season on offense. Josh Allen is playing the best football of his career, which is staggering considering his already impressive resume, and the revamped receiving corps is paying dividends, as the deep threat distraction provided by D.J. Moore is opening up opportunities in the passing game for everyone else. Buffalo has also played two solid opponents in the Texans and Lions, both of whom should be playoff-caliber teams this year.
The only point of concern right now is the defense. Sure, the Bills have played good teams — but they currently rank 28th in the NFL in points allowed, while also being 30th against the pass, and 29th in touchdowns allowed. That is a little concerning moving forward, because Buffalo doesn’t want every game to be a shootout this season if they can help it.
Still, they’re the best in the league right now and remain on a collision course with the Rams.
It’s a testament to Seattle’s coaching that this team has been without Sam Darnold in both games, and they still fall into the second spot on this list. Drew Lock is doing an incredible job under center in Darnold’s stead, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba continues to prove why he has a case to challenge Ja’Marr Chase as the best receiver in the NFL.
The Seahawks remain a defensive menace that is handling anything put in front of it. There’s been no Super Bowl hangover despite losing some key pieces in the offseason, with the ‘Hawks currently ranked 2nd in the league in points allowed, 1st against the pass, and 2nd against the run. Mike Macdonald is an absolute genius, and Seattle once more looks like an elite team in the league. Their start to the season has been relatively soft, but we’ll know a lot more in Week 5 when they face the 49ers.
No. 3: Kansas City Chiefs
A lot of people were skeptical about Patrick Mahomes’ ability to return to the field so quickly following injury, but he’s assuaged those fears in the first two weeks of the year. The addition of Kenneth Walker in the run game has been a revelation, as the Chiefs have become a more diverse offense as a result, and balanced that with a legit defense.
While many of the top teams in the league are boasting a great offense or great defense, Kansas City is just solid on both sides of the ball. They have the league’s 2nd-best scoring offense right now, and are 11th in points allowed. It’s rudimentary to be so reductive, but it’s simple math: The Chiefs are doing a brilliant job at scoring, and stopping their opponents from getting points.
No. 4: San Francisco 49ers
We are finally getting to see what the Niners are capable of when this team is healthy, and goodness is it impressive. Mike Evans is playing the exact same role in San Francisco that he did in Tampa Bay, which is to be the ultimate safety net for a quarterback under duress, and the level of comfort between Evans and Brock Purdy is second-to-none so far this season.
Like the Chiefs, the 49ers are good at everything. They are incredibly well balanced on both sides of the ball, well coached, and doing good things on the field. We’ll definitely need to see a little more to cement their brilliance after beating the jetlagged Rams and a hapless Dolphins team, but that will come in Week 5 when they face Seattle. A win over the Seahawks would rocket the 49ers up the rankings into becoming a Super Bowl favorite.
No. 5: Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are who we thought they were, and that’s a good thing. It’s clear this team is still gelling on the offensive side of the ball, and that getting everyone on the same page is still a work in progress. You can’t fault this team for being 2-0, but nail-biting wins over the Commanders and Titans doesn’t represent the dominance this organization is capable of.
This team hits a stretch now when they can begin to really assert themselves. Playing the Bears, Rams, and Jaguars in the next three weeks will help really cement the story of the 2026 Eagles, and whether they can be as good as advertised in the preseason.
No. 6: Cincinnati Bengals
This is a fascinating football team. We all knew the offense was going to be brilliant so long as Joe Burrow and the receivers remained healthy, but the defensive surge from the Bengals has been really fun to watch. Boye Mafe has been the perfect addition to the defensive line, with the team getting mammoth production out of him so far, and the addition of Dexter Laurence has given them some punch.
Need to see a little more than wins over the Buccaneers and Texans, but top-to-bottom this looks like a team that is actually ready to compete this year.
One of the two stunners of the league so far, the Vikings have won back-to-back games in the NFC North with a defense that’s as good as anything we’ve seen in the last decade. Brian Flores is a defensive genius, and the emergence of Dallas Turner as a top-tier pass rusher has given Minnesota the edge they lacked a year ago.
They fall lower in the standings right now because the offense remains a massive question mark. Carson Wentz has barely gotten the job done in each of the last two weeks, and Kyler Murray’s potential impact remains a mystery. This is a team riding high and find themself in a very good position, but the offensive side of the ball needs to pick it up. This team is dead last in total offense right now, and while they’ve played good opponents, they haven’t necessarily played good defenses.
The Raiders and Raiders fans are just having so much fun right now. It’s really cool to see smiles on the faces of their players after so many years of mediocrity, and you can tell there’s something special brewing. Emphasis on “brewing,” because while Las Vegas has looked good, their current position is certainly fleeting.
While it’s true you can only face the opponents in front of you, thus far the Raiders have faced two deeply problematic teams in the Dolphins, and the Chargers — who look as bad as any team in the AFC right now. If this team can simply get close to .500 in 2026 it will be an incredible achievement as the organization gets ready to turn the keys over to Fernando Mendoza, which is the goal this season.
