Over the decades, Vogue has been known to set a fashion rule or two. So you can trust us when we say that fashion rules are also meant to be broken. Take the “no white after Labor Day” dictum, now a long-abolished relic among the It crowd. In fact, we think one of the easiest–and crispest–ways to dress is in head-to-toe white, especially as summer begins to wind down and we enter transitional territory.
How to Craft a Perfect All-White Look
When crafting your own all-white look, you may want to start by shopping your closet. Lean on capsule wardrobe staples, like a plain-but-perfect white button-up, jeans, or a simple dress. In August, outside the shows in Copenhagen, we noticed plenty of street stylers wearing all-white basics with a twist–be it through clever layering, voluminous shapes, or unexpected accessories. Texture, detail, and cut are key to making a tonal look feel more interesting.
From the office commute to an off-duty look, the all-white outfit formula is one worth getting behind. Below, find six ways to wear white before, during, and after Labor Day.
