Get Wicker stars Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård into a room together, and you’re sure to have a wicked good time. Case in point: Vogue’s latest installment of Off the Cuff, in which the congenial colleagues talk food, film, television, theater, karaoke, self-knowledge, and style—of course.
Colman and Skarsgård may both be full-on movie stars, but if you’ve ever wondered what reality show, if any, they’d like to appear in, well, they’ve got answers. For Colman, it’s Traitors—though she’s also perfectly happy just being a viewer—and for Skarsgård, FBoy Island, because… of course. As for what never fails to make them laugh, Skarsgård points to Alan Partridge, while for Colman it’s seeing her husband “bumping his head or falling over or hurting himself. Ugh. Nothing better.” Colman remembers a 1977 adventure film called Candleshoe, starring a tiny Jodie Foster, making her want to become an actor—actually, that and the 1996 melodrama Breaking the Waves, written and directed by Lars von Trier and co-starring, as it happens, Skarsgård’s father Stellan, which she watched in drama school. (Skarsgård, for his part, was a big fan of the Marx Brothers movies and Star Wars.)
On the fashion front, Colman professes to being a big fan of her co-star’s Saint Laurent PVC dress shoes at the BFI London Film Festival this month. And as for Colman making her runway debut at Miu Miu during the spring collections in Milan? Skarsgård has only one, emphatic word: “Slay.”
